[Otii 3.7] Getting reliable battery life estimates from real power and battery measurements

If you’ve ever tried to estimate battery runtime by hand you know how many assumptions pile up before you get a number you can trust.

Battery Life Estimator in Otii 3.7 connects your device’s measured power use directly to a real battery discharge profile. Here’s how it works:

  1. Start by measuring your device in Otii as you normally would. Capture sleep states, active bursts, transmission cycles, or any other activity your firmware performs.
  2. Open the Battery Life Estimator, and define the device profile, including all the activities you just recorded and how often you want them to repeat.
  3. Select a battery profile, either one you’ve created yourself or one you’ve imported.
  4. Run the estimation to see your device’s runtime. You’ll also get used capacity and battery voltage throughout the full discharge cycle.
  5. You can swap batteries, change activity settings, or test different firmware scenarios. Save each run so you can compare results directly.
