Hello,
We are using the battery toolbox to emulate a battery with the Otii Ace Pro.
Our emulated battery is connected to a load and a battery charger.
When we try and charge our “battery” there is no current going into the Otii - it’s not sinking any current.
The system works well with a standard LiPo battery.
Our setup:
- Battery Emulator
- 4 parallel 190mAh_LiPo
- SOC = 5%
- OC Protection = 2A (I know this is high for the battery we’ve selected, but I wanted to make sure that the OC protection isn’t blocking input current as well)
Is this setup something the Otii should be able to handle?
Are we missing anything with the setup?
Is there a limit to the sink current? The charger tries to push 1A to the battery, should I change something in the default settings?
Thank you in advance,
Yan
Hi and welcome to the forum.
The functionality, for Ace to emulate a battery during charging is coming in the next firmware release (firmware 3.2.3).
Ace will then emulate the battery internal resistance not only during discharging but also during charging.
If you are interested, create a case in our case system regarding this and I will provide you with an unofficial firmware with the functionality enabled.
Best regards,
Björn

Hi Bjorn,
Thank you for the quick reply!
Does the Otii Arc has this feature already?
Is there a timline for the next firmware release?
Thanks,
Yan
Hi Yan,
The firmware release, for Ace, is planned for the coming week and right now, I do not see any delay.
For Arc, this function will not be implemented due to differenced between Arc and Ace hardware.

Björn
